Cracker Barrel couple, at 80, finally visits every location in America

An Indiana couple completed their nearly 40-year mission of dining at every Cracker Barrel in the United States on Monday, enjoying pancakes while visiting the 645th location in Oregon.

Ray and Wilma Yoder, 80, received a celebrity welcome to the Cracker Barrel in Tualatin, KOIN6 reported. Ray Yoder marked the special day by celebrating his 81st birthday at the restaurant.

“Well, it’s quite special,” Yoder told the news station. “These little farm kids aren’t used to all this hype.”

The couple’s journey started in 1970s when Yoder was a delivering RVs to dealerships across the country. He admitted to USA Today he “wasn’t too impressed” when he dined at his first Cracker Barrel in Nashville, but liked the atmosphere so much he decided to return.

Soon he and his wife fell in love with the restaurant chain and started to visit a location every time they traveled. His wife joined him on the road trips when their children moved away from home and shortly later made it a mission to dine at every location.

“I said to my wife, ‘We have been to so many. Why don’t we go to them all?'” Ray recalled.

The couple tackled all 645 locations in 44 states in the next few decades, ordering some of their favorite dishes such as potato casserole and pancakes with blueberry syrup and extra butter.

Officials at Cracker Barrel also took notice, occasionally sending them gift baskets and information about new openings. Their journey was also put on a brief halt two years ago when Yoder’s wife suffered a brain aneurysm.

But they were back on the road again about a year later.

“Well, everybody does something, usually. So we thought we would do this and it would be fun. So, it worked out,” Yoder told KOIN6.

Couple discover 19th-century log cabin during home renovation

A couple renovating their new home in Dublin, Ohio, were stunned to discover a perfectly-preserved 19th century log cabin.

Kevin Kemp and Jennifer Alexander were planning to raze the home they bought to build a new property when they found the house held an incredible secret, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Kemp and his friend Larry Daniels were removing some paneling for reuse when they uncovered the log cabin.

“We pulled off one of the pieces of paneling and I said, ‘Larry, that’s a log,’” Kemp said in an interview with the Columbus Dispatch, which first reported the story. “We pulled off another and I said, ‘My god, this is a log cabin.’”

“It took me a minute to process it,” Kemp said in an interview with Fox News. “You’re not ready to see a log cabin inside a modern home and it looks like, just over time, it was forgotten.”

Tom Holton, president of the Dublin Historical Society told the Dispatch that the 25-by-30-foot cabin, which is perfectly preserved, was likely built between 1820 and 1840.

Columbus historian Doreen Uhas Sauer said the earliest record of a building on the site belonged to A. Maties in 1856, though Uhas Sauer agreed with Holton that the cabin pre-dates that time.

Log cabins have been around in the U.S. since the early 1600’s, when it’s believed the first ones were built near the Delaware River and Brandywine River valleys. They have become a symbol of Americana, with seven U.S. Presidents having been born in them, most famously, Abraham Lincoln. Andrew Jackson, James Buchanan were also born in log cabins.

Kemp and Alexander have sinced stopped their planned renovation, and have contacted city officials to preserve the cabin. Kemp told Fox News the city of Dublin has not compensated the couple for the cabin, but they are donating it to the city, which Kemp said “would help offset some of the construction costs.”

The city was able to salvage the log cabin, Assistant City Manager Michelle Crandall told the Dispatch. It has been dismantled and the city is looking to rebuild it elsewhere.

Holton described the cabin, which is larger than most from that era, as a “once-in-a-lifetime” find.

“It was startling and was just kind of wonderment to see history just peeled away, to see history revealed right before your eyes,” he said.

Couple on Southwest flight partakes in sexual activity

A lot of people talk about wanting to join the mile-high club, but not everyone actually goes for it. However, one couple on a Southwest flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas reportedly didn’t hold back, engaging in sexual activity while on board.

“Apparently, they just couldn’t control themselves,” Michael Oram, spokesman for McCarran International Airport told Fox 5 News. “They were all over each other.”

The couple was informed to refrain from such actions while on the flight, but ignored the instructions.

Las Vegas police received reports of the incident aboard flight 3246, which landed just after 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police met the couple at the gate but no arrests were made, and the investigation will not proceed, according to Las Vegas Review Journal. In other words, it’s fair to say that what happens in Vegas really does stay in Vegas — at least in this instance.

A spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement to Fox News, saying “Southwest does not condone this type of activity and we apologize to the other passengers onboard who were potentially exposed to this activity.”

This certainly isn’t the first time someone’s been caught engaging in sexual activity mid-air. In June, a video went viral of an engaged man getting a lap dance from a female passenger on a Ryanair flight. The man, who was traveling with his bachelor party, was reportedly sad to leave his fiancé at home for the event, which is why his buddies asked the woman cheer him up.
