Attacker with knife flees after woman reveals her concealed carry gun, police say

A woman in Illinois was reportedly able to protect herself with her concealed carry firearm after a stranger with a knife jumped into her car.

Police said a woman who was parked near a shopping mall in Moline on Sunday was attacked by a man who fought his way into her car, according to WQAD 8.

During the fight, the man reportedly slashed the woman’s arm with a knife. He then ordered the woman to drive to Rock Island County, a rural area, according to police.

Once the woman stopped the car, she was able to reach her gun, which she had a concealed carry firearm permit for, WQAD 8 reported.

After the attacker saw the weapon, he reportedly ran off and she was able to drive herself to the hospital.

Police subsequently opened an investigation and arrested Floyd R. May, 61.

May was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery with a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault.

He is reportedly in Rock Island County Jail on $550,000 bond.

Jessica Alba Reveals Whether She’s Planning to Have More Kids After Baby No.3

Jessica Alba and her hubby Cash Warren are expecting their third child together, but could there be more babies after this one?

Not so fast…

E! News caught up with the actress to chat about The Honest Company’s new Honest Cleaning Collection during which she opened up a bit about about work, family and her pregnancy.

“Last one,” she quipped, laughing when we asked about being pregnant with baby No.3. She’s already a mama to two daughters, Honor, 9, and Haven, 6.

And we don’t blame her! How does someone raise three children, uphold a successful acting career and manage her own company all at the same time?

Well, that’s actually something she explained a bit more in-depth.

Jessica Alba

“I think it’s the quality of time that you put in at work and how you’re fed at work and what you bring home,” Alba explained. “And also what you let go of when you come home.”

She continued, “A happy work place actually makes for a healthier person and healthier children. If you work five hours a day but you hate your job, your attitude when you come home and what that imposes on your kids outlook and their life and their relationship with them, it actually really affects it. But if you’re happy—even if you come home late and you’re working long hours—if they see that you’re happy and you’re in a good mood and you’re present with them that’s way better than you spending ten hours a day with them in misery.”

This is a topic Alba has taken into consideration when it comes to running her business.

“I try to create as healthy and inspiring and creative of an environment for everyone, whether you’re a chemist, or you’re an [operations] person, or you’re a developer, an engineer… I hope people feel inspired, and I hope they feel like they can be creative, think outside the box, push the envelope.”

Meanwhile, as she gets ready to welcome another baby into the world, we had to pick her brain on how she balances her kids’ healthiness with letting them be every day kids.

“I want them to get into the dirt and play,” she said. “You know it’s important for kids to be exposed to things in the environment. If you put a bubble around them, then their immune systems actually are weaker so it is important for that.”

She continued, laughing, “I think there’s a balance between filth and sharing snot and then letting them get dirty, right? There’s a balance. So washing hands is important in the house.”

As far as healthy eating, Alba says kids will mimic their parents.

“Your kids are just going to really mirror what you do,” she explained. “If you’re sitting there chowing on processed food and fake food all the time, and you don’t have any healthy options and you’re trying to only make then eat differently, they’re going to see that you’re a hypocrite. So I think it’s like walking the walk and not just talking the talk.”

Demi Lovato reveals she’s open to dating men and women

Demi Lovato broke from her typical strategy of not talking about her sexuality in the press to reveal that she’s open to dating both men and women.

Speaking to Extra, the “Sorry not Sorry” singer revealed that she’s seeking a human connection and has joined dating apps. That’s when she revealed that she’s always been open to dating both men and women.

Miley Cyrus reveals she was high while filming ‘Wrecking Ball’ video

Miley Cyrus hopped in the passenger’s seat for an episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke on “The Late Late Show.”

During her musical car ride, Cyrus revealed she was high when she filmed her infamous “Wrecking Ball” video.

When Corden quizzed her about how high she when she filmed the video, which included nude scenes, she answered “10.”

She explained she was sober when she twerked on Robin Thicke at the Video Music Awards in 2013.

“I can’t smoke before I go on stage. I get too scared.”

Cyrus said she’s moved away from that image now.

“I think the first VMAs — the 2013 twerking, Robin Thicke VMAs — led me to being the activist I am now,” she explained. “I realized if that many people were going to talk about something that I did, or something that I do, then I should make it a good thing, and I should make it something that can change people’s lives rather than be a controversial conversation that does nothing but become a fun Halloween costume for people.”

She added she was trying to shed her “Hannah Montana” image from her Disney days but now she embraces that part of herself.

“I think there was something when I first, you know, kind of stopped doing ‘Hannah Montana’…saying, I’m not that, I want you to know who I really am, but I love that that was me and is me and is a part of me. And I think I’ve allowed that childhood self to shine through a little more because I’m not trying to run away from it, I’m trying to embrace it.”

James Van Der Beek reveals he was sexually harassed when he was ‘much younger’

“Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek tweeted early Thursday that he was also a victim of sexual harassment in Hollywood following reports of producer Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Van Der Beek, 40, spoke out in a series of tweets Thursday praising the women for speaking out against Weinstein and sharing a personal experience.

“I’ve had my ass grabbed by older, powerful men, I’ve had them corner me in inappropriate sexual conversations when I was much younger,” Van Der Beek tweeted.

Van Der Beek started his Twitter rant slamming those who criticized sexual harassment victims for keeping silent.

“For anyone judging the women who stayed silent, read this for perspective. Also for anyone brushing off harassment as ‘boys being boys,'” Van Der Beek tweeted and linked an article to a woman describing her experience in Hollywood.

“What Weinstein is being accused of is criminal. What he’s admitted to is unacceptable – in any industry. I applaud everybody speaking out,” Van Der Beek continued.

“I understand the unwarranted shame, powerlessness & inability to blow the whistle. There’s a power dynamic that feels impossible to overcome,” he concluded.

Van Der Beek is the latest celebrity to come forward and reveal he had been the victim of misconduct in Hollywood.

On Tuesday, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews tweeted he was groped by an unnamed Hollywood executive.

“This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME,” Crews revealed.

Last week, The New York Times released an expose stating Weinstein paid off women who accused him of sexual harassment for decades. On Tuesday, the New Yorker released an expose with claims Weinstein raped three women and forced himself on four more. A-list stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Cara Delevingne came forward and said Weinstein made inappropriate advances toward them.

Weinstein’s wife, Georgina Chapman, announced she was leaving the producer. On Wednesday, Weinstein was spotted jetting off to Arizona for rehab.

Breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate reveals she recently had ovaries removed

After undergoing a double mastectomy in 2008, breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate has preventively had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

“Two weeks ago, I had my ovaries and [fallopian] tubes removed,” the actress, 45, told in an interview posted Wednesday. “My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that.”

Applegate previously tested positive for the BRCA1 gene, a mutation that greatly increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

“That’s how I’ve taken control of everything,” she said of the recent surgeries. “It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table.”

“Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus,” she joked.

Looking to the future, the star is thinking about her 6-year-old daughter Sadie’s health.

“The chances that my daughter is BRCA positive are very high,” she said. “I look at her and feed her the cleanest foods. I try to keep her stress levels down. I’m doing everything I can on my end knowing that in 20 years, she’ll have to start getting tested.”
